Set put on a 3-day adventure of mainland Greece and explore iconic sites of classical Hellenism!

Starting from Athens, we'll reach Peloponnese via the Corinth Canal and get a taste of the dramatic arts in the Theater of Epidaurus. Hosting thousands of spectators in its heyday, the theater was famous for its remarkable acoustics, as unamplified sounds coming from the stages could clearly be intelligible in every seat. We'll leave the Sanctuary of Asclepios and proceed to the archaeological site of Mycenae through the picturesque Peloponnesian town of Nafplion. In the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae we will explore the Lion Gate and the Treasury of Atreus, remnants of a once great Greek city-state. We will conclude the Peloponnesian side of our journey in Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and home to Zeus' Sanctuary.

Back in Central Greece, we will head north to Delphi, our adventure's final destination. Delphi is known for the Oracle found in the Temple of Apollo, whose priestesses handed out prophecies that affected the decisions of the Kings of Ancient Greece. Therefore it comes as no surprise that its contemporaries dubbed it 'the navel of the world'. We will visit the archaeological site which is under UNESCO protection and explore its altars, theater and of course the stadium which housed the Pythian Games.

  • Day 1 -  Athens to Nafplion via the Corinth Canal
We will pick you up from select spots in Athens (departure at approx 8:45) and reach Peloponnese via the coastal road, crossing the Corinth Canal, where we will make a short stop for pictures. Our first long stop of this busy day will be in the Sanctuary of Asklepios, on the premises of which stands the famous Theater of Epidaurus. A monument to the performing arts, the theater was constructed in the late 4th century BCE and still hosts plays to this day. We will then proceed to the Nafplion, the first capital of modern Greece, for another short stop to take pictures of the charming town and then drive on to Mycenae to pay a visit to the archaeological site. Among the many points of interest is the Lion Gate, which marks the entrance to the Mycenaean citadel and the Tomb of Agamemnon (also known as the Treasury of Atreus) is the largest and most elaborate tholos to have been constructed in that era. We'll hit the road for one last time today and head to Olympia, through the scenic routes of Central Peloponnese, as well as the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis, and get some well earned rest.

Finding ourselves in Olympia, we'll have the perfect opportunity to explore its ancient counterpart, which is the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The Temple of Olympian Zeus holds a central position in the site, and around it sprawl various constructions that hosted athletic events such as the Great Gymnasium, the Palaestra, and the Stadium. Your guide will elucidate the importance of the Games in Ancient Greece, which cannot be overstated, as they signified a ceasefire of all ongoing conflicts. Afterwards we will make our way to the Archaeological Museum of Olympia which is home to numerous exhibits found in the grounds nearby. Early in the afternoon, we will drive through the picturesque scenery of Ilia and Achaia, cross the magnificent bridge of Rio-Antirio which connects the two sides of the Corinthian Bay and reach Central Greece. Our resting spot for the night will be the town of Delphi which we will reach after passing by the towns of Nafpaktos and Itea. The evening is at your leisure to explore Delphi on your own pace.

Upon leaving the site we will proceed to the Archaeological Museum where we will find many terracottas, statues and sculptures, the most significant of which is undoubtedly that of the Charioteer of Delphi.
