Trip to Greece - Sept 25 to Oct 5, 2010
Vassilis, my husband and I just returned from Greece, and we have to tell you we were extremely pleased with all the arrangements you made for us. Everything was as expected, or better. Everyone involved with the itinerary, every step of the way, was aware of us, was there to greet us, and was very friendly and efficient. Everything/everyone was on time. We didn't need to worry about a thing.
This includes:
1) All your drivers in Athens -- were always waiting to meet us at the airport, or take us to the port or airport. We were extremely pleased and comfortable with them.
2) Hotel Central in Athens -- was an ideal location for visiting Athens. Since it's in the Plaka district, it is close for walking anywhere, and our view from our hotel window of the acropolis was a bonus. The hotel was clean, up-to-date, and comfortable. We discovered the rooftop garden where we enjoyed our last dinner in Athens (pizza and a bottle of wine), while staring at the acropolis lit up at night. It was perfect!
3) The guide for our city tour (of the Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis itself) was extremely knowledgeable. We loved listening to her.
4) Louis Cruise Lines -- we didn't have high expectations for this cruise as you indicated it was more like an "economy cruise". But having said that, we were very comfortable on the ship, they were well organized, the food was good, and the excursions were well-arranged. There appeared to be a bit of a mix-up as to which ship we were on (not with us, but rather with your person at Piraeus Port and with Bellonias Travel in Santorini). It seems they both thought we were on the Aquamarine, but we were on the Calypso. It didn't matter to us and we had no prior knowledge of the ship, and nothing went astray. So it was all fine as far as we were concerned. Your guide at the port arranged for our boarding cards, so we didn't really have to do anything.
5) Excursions from ship -- we did the excursions in Kusadasi to Ephesus, to St. John's Monastery and the Grotto in Patmos, and to the Palace of Knossos in Crete. All of the guides they used were very knowledgeable and we enjoyed them very much. The only thing we did not like occurred in Kusadasi when the guide took us to a Turkish carpet "demonstration" after Ephesus. The person showed us examples of different carpets in the history of Turkey, but didn't show us how they were made. And instead, it turned out to be a sales pitch. We didn't appreciate being put in that predicament. After all, we're not talking about 20 euro carpets, but rather 1,000 euro carpets! Otherwise, we very much enjoyed all the sites we saw, and the information we learned.
6) Santorini/Thera -- this island is so beautiful. And the Volcano View Villas was a perfect spot to stay. We loved it here, and wish we had more time to just relax and enjoy the amenities of the hotel itself (pool decks and the view!). Our hostess on Santorini (Lucy of Bellonias Travel) was extremely pleasant to work with. Again, she met us at Athinios Port when we arrived, and was there to ensure we had our ride to the airport when we left. We phoned her to book an excursion to the volcano, and also to rent a car for a day. Everything was prompt, easy, and as planned.
So, to sum it all up, we would give you 5 out of 5. If/when we return to Greece, we will definitely contact you again for arrangements. Or if we know of people going to Greece, we will highly recommend your agency.
Thank you again for a wonderful holiday.
