Dear Litsa,
Thank you so much for putting together a really fabulous trip for all of us. We really greatly enjoyed all parts of the trip. The hotel in Athens was really well located and the rooms and service were fine, breakfasts were great. Our trips worked out well and we navigated the Acropolis on our own just fine. Unfortunately we did not find enough time to make it to the Museum which we all regreted except perhaps Jack who is more action oriented.
I think we enjoyed Chania most on Crete and really loved the location of the hotel in the Venetian Port. I would love to go back and spend more time there just to relax and enjoy. My son and grandchildren hiked in the Samarian Gorge while Cory and I wandered the waterfront and the musuem and shops. We found a great restaurant recommended by folks at the hotel which was not on the waterfront or real touristy which we enjoyed a lot. Iraklion was a little crazy finding the Galaxy Hotel but it too was very nice and we had no trouble with the car or getting around....just too little time to do everything we would have like.
Santorini was nice but it has gotten quite crowded and very touristy. The hotel was a lovely location and I am sure the rooms they gave us originally had a great view. However, they were 8 flights of steps down the cliff and I was not able to go up and down that far so they were able to accomodate us on the first floor and the third level down which worked much better.
Fayad Travel in Egypt worked out very well. The driver we had was amazing and he was with us for all of our many trips to and from the airport and on our tours as well. We also really appreciated the Cairo Guide, Hosam. who was extremely knowledgeable having worked for the Ministry of Antiquities for many years until he retired. His English was excellent and he was very accomodating. We liked him so well on our tour of Cairo that we arranged a second half day trip with him for the Monday before we left to see the Muslim section of the city and to go to the Souk. We had rooms on the Nile at the Sheration which made it okay but half the restaurants were closed for redoing and it is a very noisy hotel not located too near to things we wanted to do. Our general guide was okay but his English was not very good and he couldn't answer a lot of our questions because he did not understand what we were asking. However, he was very helpful at sheparding us through the airport and getting us our boarding passes.
We were very happy with Sonesta Moon Cruise, meals were excellent, rooms were good and our contact made sure we had rooms on the first floor to make it easier for me. He stopped at the shop on the way to the boat so we could buy water and took us to the Bazaar after we unloaded our luggage on the ship so we could buy Guyabaya costumes.
The trips from the ship were also very nice. I must admit that I found the day in Luxor too exhausting and was unable to make it through Luxor Temple as the heat was just too much but the rest of the family did fine.
All in all we had a wonderful trip and I again want to thank you for being so patient in making all these arrangements for us. I will certainly recommend your agency to anyone I know making a trip to this area.
