We will pick you up from your hotel in Athens and head to an urban farm known for its exquisite, organically grown on-site products. Soak in the serene surroundings and sample delicious Greek snacks prepared in a farm-to-table manner, among the fragrant herb gardens and bustling beehives. There, you will join a delightful honey tasting session and discover the secrets of beekeeping. Honey in Greece has traditionally been considered a primary ingredient in various local cuisines, effortlessly combining with many different foods to produce incredible flavors. Meet our knowledgeable food experts on their local farm, where you can sample their premium products and learn about their sustainable farming practices. During the tasting, you will gain insights into the various types of honey produced in Greece, including floral notes and unique flavor profiles. They will assist you in learning how to recognize basic honey types and how to pair them with different foods. This experience will deepen your appreciation for honey’s versatility and its importance in Greek cuisine.

From one beloved Greek flavor to the next, as we will find ourselves in a family-run winery to explore the long and rich history of viticulture. The importance of wine in ancient Greece cannot be overstated, as Dionysus - the God of Wine- is often claimed to be the 12th Olympian. Today, Greece boasts around 200 indigenous grape varieties, each offering a unique character shaped by the diverse terroir of the region. You will taste Greek wine from indigenous varieties, meticulously grown under the Mediterranean sun. Our enthusiastic winemaker will personally guide you through the winery, sharing fascinating insights into the winemaking process and the significance of local grape varieties. You’ll have the opportunity to taste their most prominent labels, carefully paired with a delicious homemade meal that showcases local flavors and ingredients.

Taking a break from our culinary exploration, we will delve into the history of ancient Greece with a trip to the Temple of Poseidon. Situated on the tip of Cape Sounion, the temple offered a great vantage point for Athenians to spot invaders trying to enter the Saronic Gulf. The temple therefore served not only as a place of worship but also as one of immense strategic importance. Alongside the Acropolis and the Temple of Aphaia in Aegina, it formed a triangle of observatories that kept the surrounding Greek city-states safe. You will tour the grounds, and if you pay close enough attention you will also see the carving Lord Byron made on one of the Temple's pillars!

Optionally, on our way back, we will drive along the coastal road and stop at Lake Vouliagmeni in the Athenian Riviera. We will enjoy some drinks near the lake whose high concentration of salts and minerals grants it therapeutic properties and whose warm waters are ideal for a swim throughout the year. If you feel like taking a dip, you better bring a swimming suit with you!
