We'll pick you up from your hotel on a jeep and kick off our journey, hitting the road west to the Monastery of Evangelistria where we will make our first stop. Dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, the Monastery has attained a prominent role in the modern Greek state as in the early 19th century, a group of Greek freedom fighters met there and swore an Oath of Freedom to the newly designed Greek flag. In the recently renovated monastery, we can see a functioning distillery that produces limited quantities of wine and tsipouro. In the grounds there is also, a museum housing a number of historical items tied to the island’s past and the Greek revolution.

After leaving the monastery we will head north to Kastro at the old city of Skiathos. On a rocky peninsula on the edge of the island stands the medieval fortress which served as a refuge for the inhabitants against pirate attacks ever since the 14th century. Over the centuries, Kastro passed to the control of Byzantium, the Venetians, and the Ottomans, before joining the Greek State. Just outside of the compound there is a cemetery and nearby we can see a secluded beach bearing the same name. As we make our way to the top, we will encounter many old, picturesque churches.

Leaving Kastri behind, we'll start heading south, along the west coast of the island, through unspoiled natural scenery. Our next stop will be Kechria, a stunning beach where you will have the chance took take a quick swim on the crystal waters of the Aegean. If you so chose, you can also take some time to have lunch in a tavern located on the beach. We'll continue our descend south, passing by the Monastery of Panagia Ikonistria to reach the bay of Elias where we'll take a short stop. On the way to the west peak of the Island, where we will take our final stop in Koukounaries beach, we will have entered the area of Mandraki, arguably one of the most lush and captivating parts of Skiathos. As we make our way back to the hotel, we will drive through the Forest of Mandraki, a perfect way to conclude our safari!
