Smart Three

Duration: 8 days / 7 nights
Kalambaka with a view of Meteora at night
Package rate per person in double room during low season From 1310

This package is designed for visitors who wish to sample as much as Greece can offer in a short amount of time. There are three major aspects to your journey, each designed to give you a glimpse of the diversity of the Hellenic experience. Starting your trip in Athens will expose you to the unique combination of two societies that harmoniously co-exist in the same place, even though they took place millennia apart. We have carefully crafted a half-day tour to show you around some of the more historically significant sites of the city during your stay in the capital.

Time to heave anchors and explore three quaint islands in the Saronic Gulf that are beloved by locals. In Hydra, Aegina and Poros, you will get a taste of the quiet rhythms of the island life in a mini-cruise that could very well be the highlight of your trip. Last but certainly not least, you will take 4-day tour of the historic Greek mainland. The journey will be just as beautiful as the destination, as you drive through the stunning natural environment of Boetia and Achaia to rich significant monuments in Greece. Immerse yourself in the richness of Greek history by visiting the Theater of Epidaurus, Mycenae and the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus. Finally, you will bear witness to one of the world's most unique geological formations when you visit Meteora, where you can see monasteries hanging on for dear life on the cliff sides raising up from the valley below.

Then it’s on to the Ancient Stadium of Olympia, which housed many of the sporting events at the Olympic Games of antiquity. Finally, inside the Archaeological Museum you will see history unfold before your eyes, as the site houses multiple exhibits found during excavations of the region. Afterwards, you will be driven through the plains of Ilia and Achaia and over the magnificent cable bridge of Rio-Antirio. Arrive at Delphi, where you will spend the night.

  • Day 6 - Visit the sites in Delphi & arrival in Kalambaka
The Delphi Archaeological site stands in the place that the Greeks used to call omphalos – the navel of the world. Sitting a great height on Mt. Parnassus, the sanctuary dedicated to Apollo houses a small theatre with a stunning view of the valley below. It was a religious centre and symbol of unity between the Greek city-states in antiquity, because of the famous Oracle. Deep within the Sanctuary, in a separate room in the rear, Pythia would be seated on a tripod and utter prophecies while speaking in tongues. The Athenian Treasury and the Stadium –where the Pythian Games were held- complete the picture of the cultural centre that Delphi was back then. After your visit, you will continue your trip to Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing rock formations of Meteora. It is there where you will rest for the night.
    Overnight: Kalambaka

  • Day 7 - Visit Meteora and Return to Athens
After breakfast you will depart from the hotel and start your visit to Meteora. A rare geological phenomenon has given rise to rock pillars of Brobdingnagian proportions, rising from a fertile valley below. Amidst striking scenery, perched on huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Byzantine monasteries. Built to withstand raids from bandits and foreign conquerors, these iconic monasteries have become a testament to engineering ingenuity as well as to unspoiled spirituality. Early in the afternoon you will leave from Meteora and return to Athens for overnight stay.
