A full day tour to the Archaeological Site of Delphi, arguably the most sacred site in all of Ancient Greece. The famous Oracle in the Temple of Apollo was to be consulted before every major war campaign by all the city-states of Greece. Other important structures such as the Treasury of Athenians, the Stadium & Hippodrome and the Ancient Theater, reveal different aspects -devotional, cultural and athletic- of life in Delphi. Upon leaving the site we will proceed to the Archaeological Museum, home to exhibits found in the area, like the famous Charioteer.

Take a day to explore the ancient oracle of Delphi, a sacred place for all of ancient Greece, and one dubbed 'the navel of the world'. Starting from Athens, we will take the scenic route through the plains of Beotia before arriving near the charming town of Delphi, where the ruins of the Oracle still stand to this day. Although the main site the Temple of Apollo, the famous sanctuary that housed the oracle which was consulted before every major war campaign, there are other points of interest scattered through the complex. Various treasuries, such as the ones built by the Athenians and the Sifnians exist in the site and were erected to host the offering of city-states around Greece. The Altar of the Chians, Stoa of the Athenians and Roman Agora are worth your attention, as is of course the Stadium which housed the Pythian Games. Finally, you can't help but admire in awe the Ancient Theater which offers a spectacular view of the valley below the site.
After we leave the archaeological site, we will proceed to visit the Delphi Archaeological Museum, which is situated close by and is home to a cornucopia of exhibits discovered in the area. Important exhibits include the Cylix of Apollo, the Kouroi of Delphi and the Daedalic Figurine. However, undoubtedly the most famous one of all is the Charioteer, a bronze statue set up to commemorate the victories of Polyzalus of Gela. After we tour the museum we will have lunch in the town of Delphi and start our return to Athens. A quick stop to the picturesque village of Arachova will give you a chance to snap some beautiful pictures and even pick up some souvenirs for your friend back home.
